How Do You Sleep?

My sleep patterns over the past few months have been very erratic. Getting to bed very late in the wee hours and waking up several times during the night and feeling wrecked the next day - even with a long lie in.

Now, I'm getting to bed at around 11.30pm and waking at about 7.30am and I'm getting much better sleep.

So how do you Gaireans sleep? Are you a deep or light sleeper? Do you dream much? Do you get enough sleep, over-sleep or not enough sleep? Do you wake in the middle of the night or sleep right through until morning?

I suffer from severe sleep apnoea so since last September I sleep hooked up to a CPAP machine, it sucks!

On the plus side, now that the machine keeps me from suffocating in my sleep every few seconds I sleep way better and I no longer suffer from day time sleepiness, I used to fall asleep at the drop of a hat, it was fucking annoying and it may have even cost me my professional reputation in some jobs, as I regularly fell asleep at meetings.

I'm also a lot less irritable during the day, I used to be pretty bad.

And most of all it has eliminated my epic snoring, which I am sure kept my former neighbours awake, it was fucking terrible!

I have a friend who sleeps with his eyes open, literally open. He usually warns whoever he is sleeping with but apparently more than one girl has woken him up with her screams when she sees him sleeping like that and assumes he's dead or at least passed ouyt. Must be fucking creepy!

Generally sleep ok but if I go a few nights without sleeping soundly I always have some sleepers on backup.

I'm a very light sleeper, suffer from insomnia when the seasons change, sleep talk, sleep walk, wriggle and can't have my knees touching.

I was in Spain a few weeks ago and I used to doze in the afternoon. Then at night I slept a bit, woke up, went around the place for a while and went back to sleep. It was very natural.

Now I'm at home and I sleep a bare 6.5 hrs sleep most nights. I think I'm living in the wrong country. The siesta approach really suited me.

I would have always considered myself a good sleeper though for the last few months I have been waking up during the early hours of the mornings on and off. With that the ability to commence sleep again is not always achievable.

A slight part of what Jk said is true for me that I do feel tired even when I can lie in.Now this perhaps could be due to my work. But I try to sleep by 11 and by up at 630/7 am

I find that a good wank puts me fast asleep unless I fall asleep before the wank.

I'm a very light sleeper and have gone through some pretty severe bouts of insomnia over the years, I find having a strong winding down routine is very important to near essential. That and some good herbal mixes and teas.

A good sleep tonic can work wonders and lets face it, I’m a much better partner, co-worker, and overall human being when I can acquire that oh-so-precious sleep.

I drink tea for society’s sake.
