Yes. If by "going on a date" you mean going for food or suchlike. But If you mean "have sex with" then I'd have to think about it carefully before saying yes why the fuck not.

As so many people meet online initially these day's I'd be inclined to think that the supermarket etc is very much an ok place to meet. First impressions in-person are usually fairly spot-on.

Definitely just a date Wheelie...

Have spoken to him on and off for a few weeks, just in passing, he asked a friend of mine if I was married or with someone, she told him no, he met me earlier and started chatting just small talk....

Then my friend rang, asked me had he plucked up the courage to ask me out yet.lol...
Other than she knows him, as he lives close to her home I know nothing about him..

Very true, he did make a good first impression, in a sort of an old fashioned way if that makes sense...

If you do meet again soon, why not suggest a coffee there and then or try arrange to meet another time for coffee or a beer.
Best of luck with it, let us know how it goes if you do meet up.

Sure. Some of my best dates were with people i just met.
If it was to get to know someone a little better with the intention of seeing if we felt we were compatible then i would go for it.
I don't think people should ever turn down dates, you can find out that you might really be a good match despite physical first impressions.

Surely one of the main purposes of dating is to get to know someone? On this basis yes I would.

Thanks all, given his interest and his asking questions from my friend, a coffee seems like a good idea....

I don't know Polo, but he comes across as an old fashioned type of guy, chatty and friendly but not in a pushy way...

If he invites you to a whist night he is probably scrotal sack and you should def go. Maybe coffee in the same place he works might be too close to home for him... unless it's a big shopping centre you mean...

A random meeting in the supermarket sounds so movie cute!

Plus he sounds nice so yes, if you can pluck up enough courage definitely ask to meet him for lunchtime coffee or something. Just keep it all casual, no pressure kind of thing.
And good luck!
