Phone Battery Top Up Devices?

# 1 : Wednesday 8-4-2015 @ 11:36

Gone are the days of your mobile remaining charged for three days and my phone seems continuously plugged into the wall. I've noticed that a few shops are selling battery top up devices to charge your phone on the go. Does anyone use these? Are they worth the bother?

I got a small power bank (6000MAH) on ebay and use it from time to time.
Think it cost about €12 at the time and it works a treat.

EE are giving out free top up devices to customers - you can even exchange it for a fully charged one as and when needed. Customers need to text 'power' to 365 in order to receive a code enabling you to pick one up from the 16th onwards

Maybe you need a new battery or if you are in a poor signal area turn off 3G and use 2G if you have WiFi at home / work that is.

I get about 2 days from mine with normal usage.
Most people I see complaining about less than a days use have their head permanently stuck in Facebook, or some other anti social shite.
I did a check online for average battery consumption of apps and you'd be surprised at the improvement after deleting them.

If it's an iphone with iOS 8 or newer. Navigate to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage. You can check what you've spent all that battery power on.

I checked a mates last week because He was moaning about his battery and it was
2% Calls
9% Messages
57% Safari

It's a feckin laptop He needs. Not a phone.

Android has a similar feature - on my lg g2 the screen uses about 50% of the battery.

I would suspect that you either have a phone that needs a new battery or you have a lot of Apps turned on all of the time. As an example, if you use Wi-Fi at home and head into town with the Wi-Fi still turned on, your phone will continue to hunt for a Wi-Fi connection until it connects to another Wi-Fi signal. This uses lots of battery power so best advice would be to turn off all apps when you are not using them.

I don't have my head buried in "anti social shite"! My phone is down usually 30% when I wake up in the morning from the night before switched off so I suspect it's the battery. And if I use an app like runkeeper then that's 40% of battery if I use it for an hour. The phones perfect so not getting rid of it yet.

what's the make and model?
Have you searched the tech forums and seen if there is an issue that can be corrected by a software update?

It's an iPhone 4. I think I'll just get a battery top up device until I get a new phone.

I've the 4s and get about 2 days.
I used to only get a day when I had 'Whatsapp', 'Viber' and several clothing store apps loaded.
Once I deleted them the battery life doubled.
