Clubs Start Too Late Or I'm Too Old

I don't go out anywhere near as much as I use to. A small part of that is because I don't drink and am too old to be patient with drunk people. Though another part is that people I know don't tend to go out until late. I was going to go out last night and texted a friend to find out the plan, which consisted of them drinking in a house until 12:30am when they would be hitting the club.
12:30am to the club! That's bedtime. Now, if clubs started earlier I would be more inclined to go.

Do you go out on the weekend, what time is your general kick off, have you reached the point when it seems like too much effort?

I get tired around midnight so I'm not much company after that time.

Going out generally makes me feel shit so I don't do it any more.

Word! I love a good dance so I would go and hit the clubs at 10pm if I could but anytime I could out with people (which is rare) it starts off with them in the pub until the pub closes and then going to the George for like an hour.
I don't get that logic. I mean it's not like it's a quite pub that you can have a good chat with your mates before you hit the club. They are like miniture clubs (without a dancefloor)

Don't go to clubs. Might hit one when I'm on holidays.

Clubs dou't really get going till around 11:30 or midnight anway. I usually go to a pub for around 10ish and have a few drinks there before hitting a club.

Irish clubs closing at 2am? Like what the fuck is up with that? I like to leave a club around 4am and I'm no spring chicken.

Clubs starting at 11.30 or 12.00 and closing at 2.30, charging 10-15 Euro to get in?

What the hell?

You queue to get in, pay, queue to get a beer and then if you're lucky you have time to dance to a tune or two before the night is over...

After working abroad, I can genuinely say that the club scene here is useless. First season abroad I worked in the quiet resort of Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote and even there, the clubs open at 9pm and start their drink deals from 10 onwards, they have a set license that says they can open for nine hours, regardless of what time they close at, meaning that they could easily stay open until 5ish in the morning!

Wholly agree. (Not that I have worked abroad) but travels have shown that the Dub Club scene is pretty naff. Daddi is as good as it gets and it is pretty small and infrequent.

Eaxctly! I don't see the point of this at all! The very few times I'm out people generally head to the George at 1am...and it closes @2.30am! So a €10 in for an hour and a half (which if you drink is prob half spent queuing to get to the bar)

It is fucking ridiculous. For me clubbing means being out till morning, and when I was a young pup in Lisbon it was normal to be out for 10 to 12 hours! I rarely left a club before sunrise.

Get me on a dancefloor with some good music and I'm there for hours!

I don't mind going to clubs, especially on my own.

I find so long as people allow me to be myself, have a wander around, a chat, a few drinks then a club is a pretty cool place to be, I actually usually go to hear good EDM (not that that's likely to happen)

It's people who are pushy about making me come dancing (usually friends) or have the whole night planned:
"don't do 'X', you'll look like an odd ball"
"let's go 'X'!!!"
"come on it's a club, we're here to 'X'"

is the only downside to going to a nightclub.
