Have You Ever Been To A Gay Wedding?

# 1 : Sunday 8-11-2015 @ 18:29

As gay marriage becomes law, there will be a surge in gay couples who have been together a long time getting married or renewing their vows in the next couple of years and some of us here will probably be going to some. Have you ever been to a gay wedding? Was it much different to other weddings you've been to?

I was at the reception of one in Galway 4 years ago.. It was absolutely great... everyone there- about 200- was celebrating the love this couple had for each other. I was thrilled to have been there.

Yeah I was at a civil partnership of a minor media celeb about 2 years ago. It was an amazing event. Really loved it.

I was at a same sex handfasting (done under the civil partner rule) which was utterly beautiful.

One way or the other, the ceremony is just noise - its the act of coming together in love in hope of a better tomorrow that carries me away.

I was invited to a wedding, in Massachusetts, which I was unlikely to go to (and didn't). They're now divorced, and the Irish half is back in Europe.

Different, very different. Had a small few family & friends at the registry office, then back to the house for sandwiches and crap, then went to a pub/club for a dance.
