Will you be doing the cooking over the Christmas or will your partner, sibling or parents be doing it? What will you make? help? or do you not contribute at all?

I won't be doing the cooking. I'll be helping with cleaning up plates/washing etc, and what can variously be termed 'hosting'.

But my main job will be trying to clean my family home because my mother is not in a good place and things are a disaster.

Sorry to hear that, try and make it the best you can though and hope all will be good in the end?

They need to start making rubber snowmen/women(PC), so we can fill them up with water at this time of year?

We are going to order our food from The Butler's Pantry so we won't be cooking it - just warming it up prior to being served. Call me lazy but I don't feel that I'm up to roasting a whole turkey and ham. Next year, perhaps...

I might roast some potatoes as these can't really be pre-cooked.

I cook a turkey crown and a ham, just me for dinner now, but I make lovely sausage meat stuffing, bread sauce, gravy and veg, get prawn cocktail on a bed of lettuce for starter, M&S trifle for desert. Washed down with a cuppa tea. The the sofa and TV in front of a coal and stick fire. The a cold salad for tea. That's my lonely christmas this year.

I'll be cooking dinner, i bought my ham 3 weeks ago and its thawing out nicely. I'll collect my turkey on Thursday morning from Supervalu, its my biggest one to date 22lbs. Im going to try roasted sprouts with bacon pieces this year for a change. Honey roasted carrots and parsnips. Goose fat roast potatoes. Potato Croquettes, little bit of mash, sausage meat and standard stuffing, Yorkshire puds, gravy.

I must remember to go and get some cranberry sauce. We already have sorted out the gravy for the turkey & ham.

I'm doing all the cooking this year. Roast loin of Pork with apricot and apple stuffing, roast chicken, walnut and parmesan brussel sprouts, roast purple carrots and honeyed parsnips and butterey mash. For starter leek, potato and bacon soup and pear and almond tart for dessert.

I've everything got so will start basic prep tomorrow.
