Much of the problem stems from arguments within about their involvement with drugs, the hardline repbulicans are clamping down on the dealers ect..
So legalising drugs is not issue surely.

It's not really the cause of the current feud though. Some guy stole some money and they shot him, it's just tit for tat now.

Let them kill one another.

When they have a brawl in a police station the cops do nothing anyway and let them go!

That makes no sense.

Do you have any practical proposals on how to allow that while making sure that others who are not running the trade are not killed, as happened last week?

Yes it does..
Some of the gang members are heavily involved in drug crime to fund themselves, others ie hardliners, are trying to clamp down on it.
So drugs are legalised, will that stop them finding other avenues to fund their organisation?
No it will not..
The best way forward is via the courts, extra resources for the guards, and a few touts ..

No it doesn't. Its like trying to argue that we shouldn't ban guns because some people will just switch to knives. Its about harm reduction. The most effective means of reducing criminality is to starve it of resources and opportunity and the best way we could do that is to immediately begin the process of legalizing and regulating the supply of drugs.

Yeah! Put 90% of ressources being finding the killers of people not involved in the trade. People who have lived by the sword and die by the sword are not worth much investigating! 15% is enough for them! And their life insurance should be void too: if I go on holidays and go about doing a dangerous sports my insurance does not cover it, but if I am dealing drugs and involved in the gangland feuds my family would get a pay-out. How is that fair?

I was part of a lot of shooting in Dublin over the years, often clad in gangster gear we would assemble at dawn for a day of action on the mean streets of the capital, even the Gardai would clear the streets for us,and then when the director would shout "Cut,it's a wrap", we would simply take off our clothes, put down our arms and head indoors for a hot drink and a cuddle,we were civilised back then.

So. You think they'll just go oh well and turn around and do minimum wage jobs?

Cuddling without your clothes on can be quite pleasant.

Drugs should be banned for other reasons though, some of these guy may just become legitimate business people and operate like Brewers or something.
