Frances McDormand surely will win Best Actress. Gary Oldman for Darket Hour.

The Acedemy really must love Meryl Streep!!

Oldman and Mc Dormand are shoe-ins, Dunkirk for sound and score. Loving Vincent deserves best animation and Call me by your name for adapted screenplay.

The Shape of Water looks interesting - great to see the director of the Hell Boy films get some mainstream recognition.

Friends we're talking about it last week. They went from "it's really good but not as good as it's supposed to be" to a half hour bitch session about everything wrong with it (race came up a lot). So really mixed up about it. They're epic film heads so they might be thinking about it too much.

Sounds like they're overthinking it too much. I really enjoyed it. Few little twists along the way that you don't see coming.

I saw Three Billboards. It is very good.

There’s racism portrayed in it of course but that’s the setting and it’s not a huge part of the movie. It’s really only evident in one character and he gets a hard time throughout the movie so it’s not glorified.

People who are slamming it for being racist are idiots. People really go out these days to criticise and be offended by everything. They look for problems and latch on to anything they can to appear relevant.

Bore off.
