The End Of Charities On Ground Of Abuse?

# 1 : Wednesday 28-2-2018 @ 07:30

Today some charity event in the office was canceled due to "revelations of abuse this week-end."

I usually do not practice public charity, so I would have passed on that event.
But It made me wonder: what charity will they turn to?

There is certainly not a single charity where someone is not pocketing undue monies, or where perverts will not get involved to satisfy their sick urges.
And there is not a single organization that has not tried, at some stage and at some level, to cover-up these facts (even if they now over-communicate about how they will make sure this never happens again... till next time they get caught).

Is there any Charity that can claim purity of heart, intention but ore importantly practice? In all domains?
Or is it time to just accept that this business is corrupt at its core? (And from that acceptance, draw certain conclusions, which may be diametrically different!)

I have definitely contributed less than i used to over the last few years in the wake of said scandals.. This latest one has almost destroyed my faith in them.. SVP seems the only one with a clear conscience at the moment. I hope i am not proved wrong..

They are the only one who did not find out about one, or did hide it better than others...
I would be more worries to not have any action taken against anyone in the organization ever, than having prompt action to stop them from moving around to another organization. We know how that worked in the Irish churches...

For years I had a regular standing order with Concern. I cancelled that a while back. The abuses and corruption in so called “charities” is disgusting. SVP do seem to be among the better ones.

Think about it - if there was no poverty and no third world, there would be little need for charities. They need a world filled with poverty and destitution and inequality to justify their existence.

You can't penalise charities for the sins of a few rotten apples, think about the vast amount of good they do for the disadvantaged.

From the bishop who also said:
All true knowledge contradicts common sense.

Creighton was a moral relativist. he was not critical of the church corruption, or abuse. He tied his daughter to a table's leg with a rope to show her she was crazy!

Bit shocked by the carry on at the hospice . Yer wan in charge justified 700 Euro bottles of wine as gifts to voluntary members of the board “ because they were so hard working” hey if you volunteer do your job don’t be exorcting pay or gifts or perks or expenses ...... and then the lunches and dinners and indiscriminate spending ... it’s not their money!
Ethics really needs to be taught in school.
