When and how did you come out? Did you find that you lost "friends" when you did?

Late Eighties, I would say I lost one friend, but he was a very good friend to walk away....

I came out around 32, I didn't lose any friends, only bad reaction I got was from my mother.

I came out 20 years ago at the tender young age of 21. I knew from a very early age ( around 11 ) that I was gay. I struggled with it through all of my teens. My mother knew so I didn't have to come out to her. She told my dad.

Both of my sisters weren't surprised when I told them. Doing dance routines to Steps when we were teenagers was probably the clue. My brother found out by accident. A saucy text to a guy I was seeing at the time went to him instead.

None of my friends had an issue with it either so all in all I've been lucky.

Came out in stages.

First to myself at 21 a few months after I broke up with a girl I was in love with. Finally admitting it to myself was a huge weight off my shoulders.

Then came out to my sister who told me she had an inkling for a while. Then to my close friends at 21/22 and to my dad and wider relatives at 23. Was completely accepted except for one aunt who cut all contact. Her loss.

Out at work from 26 onwards. No regrets and one of the best things I ever did.

Never did.
Never needed to.

The ultimate text fail.. would love to have seen his face..

I'm still struggling with the concept of being Asexual & announcing it to the World. When all of society says you are supposed to enjoy sex but, your just not feeling it, there is a tendency to feel like half a Man. Even though the logical side of my brain knows this is false, the quivering wreck side of my brain says yes, you are a failure.

We just laughed about it really. No harm done.
