The mesage boards have indeed got very quiet, but they have been for quite some time now. I think there was a big drop off in regular posters around about 2010/11 or thereabouts, and this is probably due to the rise of social media like Facebook, twitter, snapchat etc.
I agree somewhat with greenmanpp - half the threads popping up now are about "sexy" knickers and panty hose tights and cross dressing and looking to cheat behind their (invariably straight) spouses' backs. We badly need more quality threads...
I joined Gaire way way back in 2004 and the boards were buzzing back then!
I would hate to see the boards vanish altogether - they still form an important resource. I know the Classifieds on here are still in rude health!
So people, use it or lose it. And anyone thinking of leaving I would urge you to reconsider. Gaire is all the poorer when people leave.
Also, it's not just Gaire...Boards.ie has seen a decline in users, some people quit because of trolls and headbangers on forums like After Hours.
