I use the filter that Thomas mentioned.
Works like a charm and blocks all the wank fodder threads.

How does one block such threads?

Looks like you go into options. Then Forum options and you can tick a box there that ignores topics you're not interested in.

Has anyone or does anyone remember meeting me at a GAIRE meet up. It’s the only time I was out in town. Just wondering what people think of me of how I came across.

Not looking good Joe

The mesage boards have indeed got very quiet, but they have been for quite some time now. I think there was a big drop off in regular posters around about 2010/11 or thereabouts, and this is probably due to the rise of social media like Facebook, twitter, snapchat etc.

I agree somewhat with greenmanpp - half the threads popping up now are about "sexy" knickers and panty hose tights and cross dressing and looking to cheat behind their (invariably straight) spouses' backs. We badly need more quality threads...

I joined Gaire way way back in 2004 and the boards were buzzing back then!

I would hate to see the boards vanish altogether - they still form an important resource. I know the Classifieds on here are still in rude health!

So people, use it or lose it. And anyone thinking of leaving I would urge you to reconsider. Gaire is all the poorer when people leave.

Also, it's not just Gaire...Boards.ie has seen a decline in users, some people quit because of trolls and headbangers on forums like After Hours.

I miss the buzzy gaire. I joined somewhere around 2004 as well and Gaire was a bit of a lifeline back then.

I still log in occasionally for a browse, but haven't contributed in a very long time.

It was one of those forums you could have a night in with some tunes and a beer and have great craic on.
You'd wake up the next day and almost feel like you'd had a few mates over. It was brilliant.

This was a great site when it first started up. Had some great fun on-line, chatting, joking, bitching. The meets were even better, but I think most of the people back then have moved on. I just come back now and again to see what's happening.

You have seen a lot Dane I'd say. You are a member a long time.

Question for Thomas - When was Gaire born?

The buzzy gaire was brilliant.

Mad, zany, funny, bitchy as hell, friendly, supportive, helpful, social

Now I feel like whats the point of the site. It just has lost all of the above.
