Could You Date A Messy Drunk

# 1 : Monday 15-4-2019 @ 03:28

So., you’re out having a few with your significant other.
They hit the beer pretty hard, but you have a good night.

Fast forward to 3 hours later, then stumbling up a hotel stairs, missing the toilet with vomit, talking gibberish, having to undress them to get them into bed.

Forgivable?
Unforgivable?
Immature?
Not important/ all in good fun?
What to do?
Kick ‘em to the curb?
Three strikes and their out?

Messy drunks don’t throw up. They shit their pants and all around the loo and they wet themselves as well.

Careful now, some day he may do the same for you and you may be ill.

The person that may or may not have inspired my post got over excited, and it did seem like a once off.
It was their first authentically Irish 'lock in' and they were mixing drinks.

They felt like death for the next two days and I advised them to, for the next few days, order a water between each drink.

Wait is this a) your American long distance partner and b) is he currently in Ireland? If a and b are true then c) Ireland is the problem, not him!

So ...it was your fault....and then ....you got all judgey ...
Any friend would have advised against mixing drinks at a minimum and then a foreigner in a round ? Ffs
You were definitely waiting to see what would happen rather than preventing problems.

He doesn’t need to take water between drinks, have you thought of just keeping pace with his drinking ? Would that spoil your good time ? Why?

Wow. I don't even know where to begin with this horse shit of a post.

First off, that was a REALLY horrible post to read. How dare you be such an asshole.
Shame on you.

Second, you seem, seem , to be under the impression that were were drinking in rounds, or engaged in some kind of drinking contest?
We were two people independently buying ourselves drinks in 2 or 3 different circles of friends and venues, during a regular night out, that ended in a lock in.
There was no pressure from anyone to pace what we did with our individual wallets, choice of beverage or volume.

I don't see how someone else drinking could possibly be my fault.

and then ....you got all judgey ...

I posted some questions. It was a situation I was never in before.
What was "judgy"? (sincerely asking, please do answer this if you're capable)

I'm not a baby sitter, and it wasn't a round.
If you can't handle your drink, learn to mediate yourself like any grown up.
I advised water in between drinks because that's what I do.
You seen to be insinuating that I was "intentionally withholding calls for moderation"

You were definitely waiting to see what would happen rather than preventing problems.

Ehh, that's a really twisted accusation. Completely horrible.

How would me wolfing down pints to keep up with someone over-drinking, and drinking too quickly help?

Would that spoil your good time ?

Yes it would, wouldn't it spoil anyone's good time?

Why ?

I prefer socializing with someone who doesn't expect me to drink at a particular pace, especially faster then I find comfortable.
