There has never been a single study that confirms a link between violence on tv/movies and violence in society, despite there being plenty of research done. So even if there is more violence now than say 50 years ago on tv it has not been to blame for anything in real life.
This is something that i have done a lot of research into, being a fan of extreme cinema.
Being desensitised to violence in the world does not seem to make more people behave violently, an inability to deal with real life situations in any other way than with violence is more to do with a persons upbringing than what they watched on tv.
The big oil companies are spending fortunes getting the 'scientists' on their payroll to explain that global warming is NOT caused by pollution. All independent scientists say the opposite. I think everyone (who isn't American) knows that.
The violent porn and violent TV, violent computer games and violent movies peddlers make even more billions than the oil companies and, true to form, they also have many experts in their employ who try and persuade the public that images on screen has no effect whatsoever on a person's behaviour.
They have never been able to explain why companies spend millions on TV advertising every day. Clearly they are throwing away their money.
Absolutely not. They are not stupid. They know, like everyone else, that people are effected by what they see on screen. Hense advertising.
People can believe that lightning comes from the finger of God. That's ok. It doesn't affect the rest of us.
But brutal violence on screen affect us all, including me and my child.
