It's a bit of a push to call it "swept under the rug" how many times to do expect a story to be run? once it's run it's run like.

It happened. It was reported in the media.

That's because there was a trial and outcome. This is totally different. Don't think there has even been any arrests in this case. Hasn't seen the inside of a court room. There is nothing new to report.

If this had been a woman lured into a trap and beaten about the head with hammers & such there would be uproar in the country and the Gardai would probably have made several arrests by now.. Mind boggling in a country with an openly Gay leader.. I'm with Butters on this one.. Might be time to mobilise, get out on the streets, launch Some Twitter or Change.org campaigns (which i will support).. Time to stand up and say no more guys..

Relax there Roy Rogers, these things take time and let the Gardai do their job first.

Pow Pow,

They are treating it as a hate crime and are investigating it as such. What more do you think they can do?

Investigate homophobic crimes as they would any other ASAP and show respect for peoples sexuality, they know themselves who is gay with in the force but of course covered up

All my other points were directed solely at skeptics and there are a few of them in commenting this thread

Have you a link to where it is stated that the victim said it was not properly investigated?

Godlike!

They are slow to make an arrest, but they also observe movements and they do question before they decide and are under the cosh not to waste the courts time its a catch 22 situation dammed if they do and dammed if the do not. They could improve on the time it takes to react in most situations answering certain calls in a more prompt manor i.e. taking statements. How many time have we heard the excuses "We do not have enough staff"

The only person being hysterical is your self, the Gardi have their own processors and are under pressure not to wast the courts time but having said that they could be quicker to investigate. They will also claim shortage of manpower!
