No Bra: An Excuse For Rape?

# 1 : Saturday 25-7-2020 @ 12:12

A study related to the impact of COVID-19 lockdown on an increase in bra-free women (4 times more since the lockdown, seems to have also revealed how much the rape culture, reinforced by religiosity, pervades and perverts our societies.

20% of those asked said that a rapist should have attenuating circumstances if the woman's nipples showed through her top!

Do you feel people around you still make excuses for rape and sexual assault, and shame the victim more than the perpetrator and those who enable him/her?

We should be able, to walk around nude and not be touched by anyone. Do we teach, Respect and consent from junior infants up to leaving cert? If not, why not and should it be part of education.

That's astounding that 20% still think something along the lines of "Well in all fairness she was asking for it really", I wonder if the same 20% would still think that a rapist should have attenuating circumstances if a woman's nipples showed briefly when she was breastfeeding her child in a public place. I'm betting not but the main reason for that is that in general a lot of people are pretty fucked up when they try to separate what they deem as acceptable and unacceptable, for example in the case of rape, into shade or grey rather than into the black and white that it should be perceived as.

I think "most" people wouldn't condone or excuse rape but that's not the problem, most people in general do find it appalling but the problem is that a lot of the same people also joke about it and when you have a culture of people who say in public that it is sick and disgusting but then joke about it (especially men, sorry lads but it's true) it creates a false reality in the rapists head that they aren't the villain in the story, what they are is a Robin Hood type character standing up for men everywhere.

A prime example is every time you hear a man say "she is only a lesbian because she hasn't met a man with a big enough cock yet", I'd say the rape of hundreds of thousands of lesbians around the world have been predicated by that phrase.

Can I ask the question. Two identical twin women are walking down a street. One woman is braless with her nipples showing.. Which one would a rapist go for. Just asking the question dont shoot me.

The way a woman - or a man, or anyone dresses - should never ever be an excuse for the heinous and devastating crime of rape. But from what I have read, rape seems to be more about exterting power, fear and control over the victim by the perpetrator than sexual desire. Rapists will use anything as an excuse for their actions - and the way their victim is dressed is one of the biggest ones.

I also don’t believe that there is a “rape culture” in the West these days. Perhaps in very violent places like South Africa, yes, but not in Ireland.

Only a rapist could answer that question

There isn't a total "rape culture" as in going out and premeditating violent sex no matter what (although that still happens anyway or our prisons wouldn't be full of the fuckers and we wouldn't need rape crisis centers) but there is still a culture in the western world based on the premise that sex without consent is acceptable if one can argue that the victim was "asking for it" and "asking for it" can mean a lot of things like wearing certain clothes, being too drunk or too young and afraid to say no or even, in some cases, dressing as a female when you were born male.

If consent is not given, then it is a sexual assault.

So, it is her fault that the perv can't control himself?

It's neither of their fault, no matter who the rapist picks and not wasting my time on you any longer.

He didn't say, or even imply, it would be the woman's fault, he asked why would it be her fault if a guy couldn't control himself. Are you being deliberately belligerent for a reason?
