Migrane Headaches.....

# 1 : Wednesday 22-12-2004 @ 10:34

Hiya Folk`s .
Just looking for a bit of advise on Migrane headaches. I used to get Migranes when I was a child and on into my twenties and then it faded out.Last weekend I got the mother of all headaches with blurred vision and upset tummy and it lasted 3 days. I never had a bout that long. The Doctor put it down to stress .Any way what I used to take if I felt a headache coming on was Feverfew and into a dark room. It normally worked for me but this time it didn`t.So what I`m asking for is your reccomended action to take on the onset of an attack.
Thank`s a lot in advance.

Hi believe it or not the best cure for a migrane is a good wank!!! Im not kidding this advice is even in books like Louise Hay self help books and a few years ago my mother!!!!!!!! even said this to me - imagine my shock at that!!! Progressive parents are great!!! But a wank should do the job............... have fun!

Yeah not sure how that works either Lovelace. Usually the best think is a pitch black room, complete silenece.

BELIEVE ME THE LAST THING ON YOUR MIND WHEN YOU HAVE A MIGRANE IS WANKING, IVE BEEN SUFFERING WITH THEM SINCE I WAS 7, THEY HAVE BECOME LESS FREQUENT WITH AGE BUT WHEN I DO GET ONE I REALY KNOW ABOUT IT. MY FIRST SIGN IS USUALLY DISTORTED VISION, FLASHING LIGHTS ANDCOLOURS APEAR MORE BRIGHT THEN USUALL, SOMETIMES I LOOSE THE USE OF MY ARMS WHICH CAN BE QUITE FRIGHTNING, AND WITHIN HALF AN HOUR I WILL BE VOMITING AND IN TERRIBLE PAIN. I HAVE YET TO FIND A MEDICATION THAT WORKS WELL, APART FROM MORPHENE HOWEVER A DOCTOR IS VERY UNLIKELY TO ADMINISTER THIS. BECAUSE I GET SICK I USUALLY RELY ON SUPOSITARYS OR AN INJECTION OF PAIN KILLERS AND A SEDATIVE. THERE IS A NASAL SPRAY WHICH I FOUND TO HELP BUT I CANT REMEMBER ITS NAME. THE MAIN PAIN IS USUALLY CAUSED FROM THE VEINS TIGHTNING AND THE BLOOD FORCING ITS WAY THROUGH, CANNABIS CAN SOMETIMES HELP WITH THIS BUT IT SEEMS TO VARY FROM PERSON TO PERSON. THERE IS A MIGRANE CLINIC IN TALLAGH HOSPITAL WHICH YOU MAY FIND HELPFULL, THEY TEST YOU FOR ALLERGIES IN FOOD TYPES WHICH CAN TRIGGER A MIGRANE, USUALLY CAFFENE, CHOCOLATE,RED WINE AND DAIRY PRODUCTS.
THE BEST WAY TO GET THROUGH A MIGRANE IS TO SLEEP BUT BECAUSE OF THE PAIN ITS USUALLY NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIFT OFF SO SO I OFTEN GET A PRESCRIPTION FOR SEDATIVES IN SUPOSATERY FORM, DARK AND QUIET SURROUNDINGS ARE A MUST AS ANY SUFFERER KNOWS

Hey Loosey how ya keeping .
It really is a pisser this migrane thing but I will contact the Tallaght Hospital after the holiday`s but in the meantime I`ll just take it easy. I tried them supositarys once and they tasted terrible may as well shoved them up me arse for all the good they done. The fecking coal man sued us for back injuries when he slipped on them in the back passage of the house.I was only following the directions "insert into back passage" Still can`t see how that would help

Termi - a cousin of mine who's in her mid forties had been suffering with headaches and fatigue for a year. Her doctor put her on antidepressants? Two weeks ago she went to a diferent doc and the first thing that she did was check her blood pressure which it turned out was through the roof and she has had to have some minor surgery to stop a blockage which it has done successfully.
I dont mean to scare you but it can be a symptom of high blood pressure and consider getting it checked out.

lol i can just imagine.. "ahhh honey, ive a really bad headache.. any chance you could do me a favour and sort me out?!!" haha

ive gotten the odd migraine and my god it is the worst feeling in the words, absolute silence is a must and a dark room really helps tooo... i always find when i get migraines that if i move an inch the pain gets worse so ive no choice but to sleep.. ive never gotten blurred vision or been sick though.. to be honest i didnt know you could get bouts of it for three days running.. maybe it'd be better for you to get a second opinion from a different doctor termy.. or as you say-go to tallaght hospital after the holidays and see what they think
