there has been much talk here and internationally on the issue of gay couples and adoption rights & gay parenting.

personally i can't ever see myself wanting to be a parent. i like the freedom in my life at present. also seeing my two sisters age 10 years in half that time, and never having a moment to themselves, reinforces the fact.

what do people (gay/straight) on here think, can you see yourself with kids in the future?

I can't imagine myself being a parent but I suppose I will do it at some point.

Yeah, I'd still love to. It was an option for me about 10 years ago and I threw it away... scared of commitment then, plus both of us weren't earning a huge amount at that time. But we could still have done it, I reckon, except that I flunked it...

Regretting it now

I have two wonderful little girls. Any sacrifices you might make to have children is more than outweighed by the benefits

Absolutely, Irishguy

I've been lucky in that I've been fairly invoilved in my sis's kids (2 girls & 1 demon) over the past few years. But it's still no substitute for your own, I think.

It is the three best things I have ever done in my life...you can have all the money in the world and have an unhappy child, children need love and affection and encouragment and more love, and kisses, all of which are free, it is nice to have money and be able to give your childern what they want, but there is nothing to make you want to work harder than to have children....The only thing i would have liked was to have had more.....

I'd love to have a kid some day. Though I would be scared of not giving it the up bringing it deserves. Not because of being in a gay relationship but because I'm not sure I know enough about life yet to teach someone else about it. Yet I do feel as long as a kid is truely loved and given attention, it will be a happy kid. There is alot of neglegtion from hetrosexual parents who have had maybe an unwanted pregnancy, I think that gay parents have so much hassel to go through before becoming parents that they would rarely abuse the role. This isn't obviousley always the case, I suppose parenting is a personal thing but at the end of the day its all about the love.

Of course changing nappies in the early years can be a bit of a bummer.

@ kids. But thats just the way I feel at the moment. I have no interest in cleaning up shit, puke or snot at this stage in my life. But sometimes, not very often mind, I see a little baby and I let out a litte 'awwww'. They can cute little things. But way too much responsiblity at the moment.

Thats why I hope that this baby will sort out my litte bro, 19 (who is expecting a baby). He is still going throught that im a teenager/im a man phase.
