ever have to spend time in hospital? did you ever have anything serious happen to you?
ive been very lucky health wise.
i had an extended stay in hospital after i had my wisdom teeth removed and they could not get the blood to clot.
i spent 10 days in hospital in sydney with an inflamed gall bladder and kidney failure.
i was air lifted from fraiser island after my sleeping bag cought fire and melted into my hand, we were traveling down australias east coast at the time so i have been in most of the regions hospitals getting dressings changed.
i think thats about it.

I broke my leg when I was four and had to spend a few hours in hospital but never overnight. I have idea's that it would be like carry on doctor or only when I laugh. I hope I never find out though. But I will have to get a face job. I'm just too damned handsome all the women drivers aren't concentrating on the road there too busy phwoaring and that causes accidents!!

I was in hospital when i had my tonsils out, and then when i had my wisdom teeth out.

Also had to for x-rays at the hospital a couple of times.

I spent the night in hospital on strong sedatives once cause they thought i was gonna hurt myself.

Ive been in A&E about a dozen times but I don't think I ever spent a night. I was an out patient for about two weeks though.

I was supposed to spend a night in the Mater once but I walked out. It was very easy considering I didn't have any shoes.

Had 4 eye operations, tonsils out, spent a few days in after a bike injury, was isolated when I was a baby, for a few weeks other than that it's just routine checkups and such. Have to go in soon and get a heart monitor and a full cardiac checkup. But I've never really been I'll or injured seriously. Very lucky.

Sure did!! Just before Chrimbo 1998 me & a bunch of my cycling mates went out cycling on a Sunday. It was one of those lovely December days with bright blue sky lovely and frosty. Perfect winter cycling weather. We were doing the Wicklow gap cycle - out to Tallaght, up the Embankment, on to Blessington, over by Valleymount, Wicklow Gap, Laragh, Roundwood, Enniskerry and back into town. About 50 - 60 miles, 5 hours or so.

Anyway, by the time we got to Blessington the skies clouded over and by the time we were over by Valleymount it was lashing. There was no point in going back so we went on. Except that I hadn't taken proper raingear We stopped at a pub in Laragh and had a bit of grub and got dried out. Then back on the bikes and into another 2 hours of wind & rain back to Dublin, total chill factor at that stage, everything soaked through. And lycra cycle gear is miserable when it's wet.

So over the next few days I knew something was wrong, thought it was just 'flu, went through the whole Chrimbo drinking/partying vibe not feeling well, drinking hot whiskies and pretending nothing was wrong, but 2 days after Christmas I literally collapsed - face down, out for the count, my brother in law carried me into the car and over to the hospital. Spent 10 hours on a trolley and they took me in, diagnosed with pneumonia that had gone down to the lung. Spent 2 months in St. James's which included an operation cos some of the gunk had solidified at the bottom of my lung and they had to cut it out. Still have a massive scar across my back - looks lovely. And to cap it all I managed to contract chickenpox while in the hospital, had to spend 2 weeks in isolation covered in rotten little spots which were really itchy.

Didn't get back to work until early May. The hospital was actually very good - the staff were brilliant and the surgeon who did the operation spent over 20 minutes in my room the day before it talking me through the whole thing. Then again, she'd been in college with a mate of mine who's a surgeon and she kind of remembered me so I suppose that helped but still...

And it all happened on Sunday the 20th December 1998. 7th anniversary coming up. God, never again...
