you must be joking!!!! Str8 men are much more attractive. Most Gay guys on the scene are not very nice. That's why a lot of Gay men don't go near it.

Ah hold on a minute guys, there are just as many arseholes in the straight bars and clubs as there are on the gay scene. There are some lovely gay guys out on the gay scene. I'm a nice guy and I'd talk to anyone. If a guy doesn't talk to you because of how you look, well really who wants to talk to losers like that anyway?

Plus where is the statistic to back up that comment that "Most gay men don't go near the scene?"

I've met a few muppets, but I've also met some really nice guys aswell.

the gay scene is totally different to the straight one in so far as you get every mix of person on the gay scene. Straight pubs and clubs have different target groups. You might get most of the straight customers of say Renards, who will have a few bob and come from a particular backround. Straights who go to, let's say, Copperface jacks will be different. When it comes to the gay scene you get every type of person from politicians and well known personalities to rent boys. All they'll have in common is that they are gay but they come from every different backround. You also have all the ages from 18 to 80 in the same places which you don't really get in straight bars and clubs

Because of this you are going to notice people who think and behave very differently to you but that doesn't mean everybody on the gay scene is like that. It's just something you have to accept because the scene is so small(ish) and you don't have the choice of venues to go to. I actually like that about the gay scene. There's a great mix of people and the ones who are rude or have an attitude I can ignore.

I would agree with Dirha’s point that the diversity of people on the gay scene is much wider than srt8 ones which is partly due to an acceptance that gay people come from many different backgrounds but also the size of the scene itself. In the larger cities, people tend to section off into different interest groups and it strikes me that the smaller the scene, the more the hissy cats dominate.

I also think that Anybodyknows has made an accurate observation. Some scene queens have an attitude problem for sure which means that others get disillusioned very quickly and just don’t bother. It’s worth pointing out that this has very little with being out in the real world because many who do the scene are not out and vice versa.

There is some truth in the argument that the scene is what people make it but one major factor is actually facilities. If bars and clubs continue to target such a narrow section of the market then the scene is going to get smaller, not bigger. We don’t for example, have any serious dance clubs anymore and there’s only so much of late bars and soft furnishings a body can take.

I think you’ll find that people who hang out in places like Outhouse are more real than scene Anybodyknows, check out the website for opening times.
