The 3000th US soldier in Iraq:

CRAWFORD, Texas (CNN) -- The death toll among U.S. troops in Iraq hit the grim milestone of 3,000 on Sunday with the death of an American soldier at a military hospital in Texas, the Pentagon reported.

President Bush has vowed that Americans killed in the nearly 4-year-old war will not have died in vain, the White House announced Sunday.

The American toll crept toward that figure a day after the execution of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein; and as Bush, at his ranch in Texas, pondered whether to send more troops into the increasingly unpopular war.

If Teddy Kollek had had the job of running not just Jerusalem, but the rest of the country, everyone in the region would be a lot better off today, sad that a lot of his fellow Israelis lacked his vision.

That's a shame, though I'm sure she must have been a big age.
"Tom's Midnight Garden" is a fantastic book - don't know her other stuff.
